Matthew Abel was elected President of Temple Sholom effective July 2019.

He has lived in new Milford since 2001 and been a full-time member of the Temple since 2008. He is a physician at Candlewood Valley Pediatrics in New Milford.  

 

Matthew served on the board of trustees and served as treasurer for the past four years. His wife currently serves as the chair of the Lifelong Learning committee.

 

Their oldest son was a member of Rabbi Ari‘s first bar mitzvah class in 2016 and their daughter will celebrat becoming bat mitzvah in 2021.  

 

Matthew reports: "In my free time I pretend that I can play golf well and enjoy running and obstacle course racing."
