Ritual

Photo-Temple Sholom Ark-1563Temple Sholom, being the only synagogue in New Milford, strives to be sensitive to the full spectrum of Jewish practice. We are a Reform Synagogue using liturgy produced by the Reform Movement; yet we use those liturgies in a way that respects traditional patterns and motifs. Singing is encouraged as a means of strengthening participation in worship. While some find us more traditional than their backgrounds and others less so, we are proud of our efforts to make all feel welcome and accepted.

Services are held every Erev Shabbat and Shabbat Morning throughout the year. On most Saturdays Torah Study preceeds the morning service. Family worship is held on the last Friday of each month. There are Services for Pesach, Shavuot, Sukkot - Sh'mimi Atzeret - Simchat Torah, Rosh HaShana, and Yom Kippur; the Megillah is read on Purim. Oneg Shabbat and Kiddush are enjoyed as a community and periodically communal meals precede or follow worship.
